Hurry up and Wait!

Allison and I are back in our favorite place – Delhi. Not by choice, of course, but because the previous night’s flight to N. America lost an engine during takeoff (better to be on the ground for that fiasco) leaving 200 passengers stranded and waiting to fill the extra seats we had intended to use for the Dec 18 filght. Dec 19th’s flight added 11 thousand pounds of cargo, which left no extra pounds for passengers. We’ll try again tonight and tomorrow and tomorrow. At least Delhi is a relatively inexpensive place to be held over. And the weather is quite nice – high 60s & not a cloud in the sky. Jacksonites, how does the -20 temperature feel right now?

Phucket. The last stop in Thailand.

David and I are at our last stop in Thailand, the island of Phucket. So here are some quick memories to share before we move on. Monkeys might be cute but they are not nice. While on a hike I had a monkey try to steal my flip flops every step for 15 steps! lucky for me he was trying to pull them off the back of my foot. If he was pulling from the front I might have lost that battle, never to see my flip flops again.

Hot tip: Don’t fall off an elephant while it is in mid stride!

Tun Sai

We knew we were in the right place when Allison found three empty bottles of Jack Daniels sitting on the counter of the Andaman Cafe. Melonie was certainly here. We had a coffee with her friend Teo and later the next day took the long boat back to the hippie climber enclave to have a proper thai curry dinner with Melonie’s heart throb. I hope you all have a chance to meet Theo in the upcoming months – he will certainly put a smile on your face. And Melonie, everyone at the cafe is looking foward to your return on Jan 18. And both of the Charles from Minnesota are looking forward to your party in March AND they hope you will be bringing more JD to share! Continue reading
